The peanut bug (Fulgora laternaria) named thus for the projection on its head resembling a peanut. No one knows exactly what the purpose of this ornamentation is.

The shield mantis (Choeradodis sp) has an enlarged thorax to help campuflage it among the leaves of its tropical home.

The Amazon Basin emerald tree boa (Corallus batesii) is a stunning snake that inhabits the rainforest canopy only rarely descending to ground level. It is said by some to be the prettiest snake species.
