The American flamingo (Phoenicopterus ruber) this is the galapagos subspecies (P. r. glyphorhynchus) which differs by being marginally smaller. On some of the islands in the galapagos it is possible to see them wading through the marshes sifting food from the water.
Galápagos flycatcher (Myiarchus magnirostris) an endemic bird to the galapagos islands. These charismatic birds have little fear of people and can readily be observed on all the islands.
The galapagos giant tortoise (Chelonoidis nigra). The largest tortoises in the world occur in the Galapagos where there are 11 extant species, each unique to particular islands or portions thereof. The small bird on its back is an groove billed ani, an introduced and invasive species on the island. Although their relationship with the tortoises atleast is likely mutualistic with the anis picking ticks from the giant reptiles.
