The sharp tailed snake (Contia tenuis) a west coast endemic species laying on ash in its recently burned habitat.

The trunks and stems are all that remains of shrubs that were burned in 2020's lighting complex fires. All the underbrush and ground cover has burned away altering the landscape and leaving it exposed to the sun.
